In a news release published on April 23, the Academy of Arts and Sciences named Alice Walton as a newly elected member of its 2025 cohort.

As the release states, “Since 1780, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences has honored excellence and convened leaders from across disciplines and divides to examine new ideas, address issues of importance, and work together “to advance the interest, honor, dignity, and happiness of a free, independent, and virtuous people.”

The newest members have distinguished themselves in academia, the arts, industry, policy, research, and science.

Walton was noted for her philanthropic leadership, including Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and will be inducted into the Academy in October.

“I’m deeply honored to be elected as a member of the Academy, and among this distinguished group of members,” said Walton. “I commend the Academy’s work in promoting the common good, and highlighting how knowledge can broaden our horizons and deepen our understanding.”
